Fukushima update from Fairewinds Associates
Highlights of April 6th report out from Fairewinds Associates
- lots of mud inside the reactors, the NRC is concerned with the water and mud inside the buildings from a weight perspective
- NRC believes plutonium was ejected several miles from the reactor
- Areva a French Nuclear Conglomerate noted the following in their report
- the nuclear fuel reached 5000C
- unit #2′s core was breached by a hydrogen explosion (even though the roof looks intact)
- recommended control of crops and dairy out to 50km from Fukushima
- unit #4 which had no fuel in the reactor had a fuel melt in fresh air due to a crack in the fuel pool and all the water leaked out early on)
- quote from the presenter of the report “Clearly we are witnessing one of the greatest disasters in modern times”
